Rabbi Mark Solomon
The Liberal Jewish Synagogue
Rabbi Solomon was born and educated in Australia, and has a BA (Hons.) in English Literature from the University of Sydney.
His rabbinical training began at Lubavitcher yeshivot in Melbourne and Israel, and he received ordination from Jews' College, London, in 1991.
After serving as minister of Watford United Synagogue, he became Rabbi of West Central Liberal Synagogue in 1992, and was appointed Rabbi at the LJS in 2000.
He has been a lecturer in Talmud and other rabbinic texts at Leo Baeck College since 1991, and received an MA in Jewish philosophy there in 1998. A special interest of his is interfaith dialogue, especially with Christians and Muslims. He is a governor of the Ammerdown retreat centre in Somerset, Co-Chair of the London Society of Jews and Christians, a trustee of the London Ecumenical AIDS Trust and the Interfaith Alliance and a board member of the Council of Christians and Jews.
Another special interest is singing, and he uses his cantorial training both in synagogue services and occasional concerts. |
